Although I'm an Electrical Engineer by profession (Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from NCSU), I've been very involved in languages since childhood and have been fortunate enough to be able to pursue my interest in langauges both personally and professionally. I earned a Master's Degree in Germanic Languages from UNC-CH (my thesis) and was a PhD student in Linguistics at UNC-CH (specializing in East Asian languages) before becoming an engineer full-time.
I was one of the original contributors to the COMPDIC Japanese-English Computing and Telecommuncations Dictionary, and this experience lead me to later found the CEDICT Chinese-English dictionary project.
I also work as a freelance translator in a variety of languages. I'm a member of the Carolina Association of Translators and Interpreters and translate German, Polish, Japanese, and Vietnamese into English (my native language). My primary areas of expertise are engineering and technical documents as well as medicine, healthcare, and business.
